After leaving India in 1990, I settled in Victoria and worked at a variety of jobs. In 2002, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Victoria. Currently I’m a cardiac nurse at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
As a young child, I was always interested in art, but didn’t have a chance to paint. What changed my life was taking a water colour painting course in 2004. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this medium and I took it up as a relaxing hobby. In 2009, I decided to become more serious about my desire to become an artist. I now participate in juried shows and display and sell my art in local businesses, and galleries.
A watercolour medium is unforgiving and complex, but there is softness to it. This medium has taught me patience, perseverance and acceptance. It reminds me to let go and just be. When I paint I become fearless which allows me to look at life from a different perspective.
